Special Concert featuring Professor Eva Legêne
After her acclaimed 2006 Sydney performance with the Dutch maestro, Wieland Kuijken, Professor Eva Legêne returns to Sydney. The Sydney Consort
is thrilled by the opportunity to perform with this internationally
renowned musician. Professor Legêne’s irresistibly eloquent appearances
around the world are based on her thorough historical research into
early music practice.
Don’t miss what promises to be a memorable event in Sydney’s 2008 musical calendar!
Dutch-born Professor Eva Legêne is a recorder virtuoso and music educator.
She has been a faculty member of the Sweelinck Conservatory in
Amsterdam and the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, and she has
served as the director of the North American Recorder Conference at
Indiana University. She has also conducted master classes throughout
Europe and the United States.
Professor performs extensively as a soloist and in collaboration
with Frans Brüggen, Wieland and Bart Kuijken, John Gibbons, and the
Rosenborg Trio.
Of particular interest to recorder players are Professor Legêne’s
researches in 1980, which led to discovery of the ‘Rosenborg recorders’
(two valuable 17th Century narwhal tusk recorders) in Rosenborg Castle,
Copenhagen.
Ms. Legêne’s recordings can be found on the telefunken label, the Brüggen Consort label, and as soloist on the Denon label.
