Concert in the Blue Mountains: Mount Victoria
2009 marks the 250th anniversary of Händel’s death
Sunday, 1st March 2009 at 2:45 PM
To celebrate his legacy, the Sydney Consort opens their 2009
music season to present a concert of music by the great master and his
contemporaries.
Bach’s admiration for Handel is evident from his having copied with the help of his wife, stating:
“Handel is the only person I would wish to see before I die, and the only person I would wish to be, were I not Bach”.
“Handel is the greatest composer who ever lived. I would bare my head and kneel at his grave” .
